Koslowski, Swinden named Niagara College Athletes of the Week

Female Athlete of the Week - Jordan Koslowski, Women's Volleyball

Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton) of the Niagara Knights women's volleyball program has been named the Niagara College Female Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. Koslowski led the Knights to a pair of home victories of the Boreal Viperes and Cambrian Golden Shield.

As has been the trend this season, Koslowski was the key cog that makes the Knights go. Against Boreal, she recorded 10 points in a three set sweep over the Viperes. Koslowski recorded a season high four stuff blocks, alongside four service aces and four kills.

The next afternoon is where Koslowski really did her damage. Against a pesky Cambrian Golden Shield team, she was simply dominant. Koslowski tallied career highs in both kills, with 17, and points with 19. She was also strong on the defensive end of the ball, chipping in seven digs, propelling the Knights to another three set victory.

Through the first half of the regular season Koslowski has been nothing short of brilliant on the court. She currently leads the Knights in both kills per set, service aces, and points per set. She is second on the team in digs, proving she has been getting it done on both sides of the net.

Koslowski and the Knights will now regroup before the beginning of the second semester. They will return to the court on January 14th and 15th as they head North to take on Cambrian and Boreal to open the second half of the regular season.

Male Athlete of the Week - Tristan Swinden, Men's Volleyball

Tristan Swinden (Whitby) of the Niagara Knights men's volleyball program has been named the Niagara College Male Athlete of the Week. Swinden was the Knights most consistent player in a pair of victories against the Boreal Viperes and Cambrian Golden Shield.

On Satuday evening Swinden posted an efficient .889 hitting percentage, putting home eight kills on just nine swings. He added one service ace and one stuff block to reach double digit points for the fifth time this season.

The following afternoon Swinden was efficient once again, this time posting seven kills on just 10 swings for a .600 hitting percentage. He also added one dig as the Knights grabbed their third consecutive three set sweep to close out the first half of the regular season.

The OCAA regular season is now on hiatus until the second semester begins. The regular season will pick back up on January 14th and 15th as the Knights travel to Sudbury for back-to-back matchups with Cambrian and Boreal, respectively.
