Female Athlete of the Week - Bailey Davis, Women's Volleyball

Bailey Davis (Georgetown) has been named this weeks Niagara College Athlete of the Week. Davis, a Recreation and Leisure Services student, led the Knights women's volleyball program to a 2-0 record in the opening week of the 2016-17 OCAA regular season.

In the season opener against Fanshawe, the third year setter had a career high 42 assists in the Knights four set victory. She followed up that performance chipping in 27 assists on Sunday afternoon against the St. Clair Saints en route to a 3-0 victory for Niagara.

Davis and the Knights will kick-off the home portion of the schedule when the Mohawk Mountaineers visit the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on November 4th.

Male Athlete of the Week - Jordi Amores, Men's Soccer

Jordi Amores (Niagara Falls) has been named this week's Niagara College Athlete of the Week. Amores was simply tremendous in three games at the 2016 Belairdirect OCAA Men's Soccer Championship this past weekend.

Amores kicked off the championship by scoring both Knights goals in a 2-1 come from behind victory over the St. Clair Saints in the semi-final. The victory marked the first time that the Knights soccer program had advanced past the quarterfinal stage. After falling in the Semi-Final, Amores once again brought his best game for the Bronze Medal match against the George Brown Huskies. Despite ultimately falling in penalty kicks, Amores scored a pair of goals, including a dazzling goal late in regulation time to force extra time.

The Knights season has now concluded, but it was the most successful to date. The fourth place finish marks the highest that the Knights have ever finished at the OCAA Soccer Championship.
