NEWS: Milne, Pinnock named Niagara College Athletes of the Week

Jaydon Milne - Men's Volleyball

Jaydon Milne (Toronto) of the men's volleyball program has been named Niagara College Male Athlete of the Week.

The second-year outside hitter matched his career high in points, racking up 20 in a 3-1 victory over the St. Clair Saints on December 1st. With the Knights coming off a sluggish performance against Humber, in which Milne tallied seven points, the Fitness and Health Promotion student put on a clinic in Windsor to wrap up the season's first half.

Utilizing the strength of his powerful swing, Milne dropped a season high 17 kills and three service aces to account for his 20 points. His .547 hitting percentage was also a career-high in his short OCAA career.

His totals for the two games last week were 27 points, 23 kills, nine digs, and three service aces.

Milne and the Knights will now enjoy an extended holiday break, returning to the court on January 4th and 5th at the annual Niagara Knights Invitational tournament, hosting at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. The Knights next regular season contest will be on January 12th when the team heads north to visit the Boreal Viperes in Sudbury.

Zeniah Pinnock - Women's Volleyball

Zeniah Pinnock (Toronto) of the women's volleyball program has been named Niagara College Female Athlete of the Week.

Despite a pair of losses against the highly ranked Humber Hawks and St. Clair Saints, Pinnock proved to be a bright light for the Knights. Playing increased minutes in her second collegiate season, Pinnock has been a consistent performer for the Knights.

In the November 29th matchup against the Hawks, Pinnock has six points on the strength of six kills. On December 1st, she recorded a team high 13 points with 12 kills and a stuff block. However, it was her defensive presence that made her performance more impressive. She tallied 16 digs, matching her career high for the third time this season.

Pinnock and her Knights teammates will now have just over a month off before they head to Durham College in the new year for annual Durham Lords Invitational. Their next regular season game will be on January 12th when they head to Sudbury to take on the Boreal Viperes.
