Male Athlete of the Week – Lequan Hylton, Men’s Basketball

Lequan Hylton of the Niagara College men’s basketball program has been selected as this week’s SAC male athlete of the week. Hylton saved his best performance for the Knights biggest game of the season, a February 20th must-win victory over the Sheridan Bruins.

The first year point guard provided an outstanding performance for the Knights during the team’s playoff saving 99-76 victory over the visiting Sheridan Bruins. Hylton, a five-foot-nine native of Mississauga, turned in a season high 17 points, while also adding a game high eight assists.

Aside from quarterbacking the Knights offense to victory, Hylton’s biggest contribution came in the form of a pair of back-to-back three pointers at the mid-way point of the fourth quarter. The baskets sparked the Knights to go on a 16-4 run and clinch the home court victory.

“Lequan has really developed over his first year with our program” said Niagara College men’s basketball head coach Keith Vassell. “His on-court composure and confidence has grown each game, and his skill is really starting to show.”

Hylton is a graduate of Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School and is currently enrolled in the Niagara College Police Foundations program. He is averaging 8.5 points and four rebounds per game this season.
