Female Athlete of the Week – Anna Jaworowicz, Women’s Basketball

Jaworowicz is a native of Midland, ON and a graduate of Saint Theresa’s High School.  The five-foot-five point guard just completed her second season with the Niagara College basketball program will be graduating from the Sport Management program in April.

In the OCAA bronze quarter-final game, Jaworowicz shot 50 percent from behind the arc against St. Clair, finishing the game three for six and tying her career-high for three pointers made in a game.  At the end of the game, Jaworowicz was given the second game ball which was signed by the entire team and coaching staff.

Male Athlete of the Week – Delroy Grandison, Men’s Basketball

 For the fourth time this season, Delroy Grandison of the Niagara College men’s basketball program has been selected as the SAC male athlete of the week. 

During the OCAA men’s basketball banquet last week, Grandison (Kingston, JA) was named the West Division Rookie of the Year, selected as an OCAA Second Team All-Star and named to the OCAA All-Rookie Team.  The six-foot-three forward became the first West Division Rookie of the Year award recipient since the 2011-12 season, when Alex Campbell received the honours for Niagara.

The welding techniques major led the Knights in most offensive categories, finishing the season with a slash line of: 15.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, ranking him top 25 in the OCAA in each category.
