Julie (Cecco) Jenkins

Julie (Cecco) Jenkins of Niagara Falls, Ontario was the backbone of the Knights Women's Basketball team in the late seventies.

Splitting her time between playing guard and forward, Julie led her team in scoring, averaging 15 points per game and was named the team's most valuable player in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 seasons. She was the team's leader on and off the court, displaying excellence in sportsmanship and leadership.

Julie was awarded the Athlete of Distinction Award in her second year at Niagara.

For her participating on the basketball and tennis teams, Julie was the first Niagara athlete to have the honour of being named Female Athlete of the Year in two consecutive years.

Before coming to Niagara, Julie had already made her mark in basketball having been a member of the 1976 Ontario Winter Games Women's Basketball Championship team and Ontario Senior Women's Basketball Championship team.

Her most memorable moment still remains in having the honour of being the first Niagara Athlete to be named Female Athlete of the Year for two consecutive years.
