Laura Chatterton

Laura Chatterton of St. Catharines, Ontario, was a member of the Knights women's volleyball program from 1994 – 98 and the indoor soccer team from 1996 - 98.

Her dedication as an athlete was tested in the first three years in volleyball as the team struggled to compete. Her leadership qualities and experience as an outside hitter were some of the main reasons for the team's success in her fourth and final year. She was named team most valuable player two consecutive years 1995 through 1997; twice represented the Knights at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association mid season Annual All-Star Game in 1995 and in 1997, and was named to the All-Star Game dream team top six players in the province in 1997.

In the 1997 – 98 season, Laura led the Knights to a fifth place finish at the provincial championships and as a result of her outstanding play and leadership on the court was recognized by the OCAA Western Region coaches as she was selected OCAA league All-Star.

Niagara College presented Laura with the Athlete of Distinction award in 1996 - 97 and the greatest athletic honour that the college gives was earned by Laura in 1997 – 98 when she was named Female Athlete of the Year.

After her final year, Laura spent two years as the assistant coach of the women's volleyball team. Laura's most memorable moment was having her father and nan at all her home games over the four years she spent with the Niagara Knights. Laura is a graduate of the Human Relations and the Special Events Management (Post-graduate) programs.
