Eliran Kikoss

Eliran Kikoss, formerly of the State of Israel, arrived at Niagara College in September 2001 and quickly made his mark with the Niagara Knights men’s basketball team by becoming the team’s top scorer in the guard position. In his first 12 league games he hit for 187 points and an average of 15.6 points per game. He was named an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Western Region First Team All Star and won the OCAA Annual All Star game three-point shooting competition as well as being named OCAA Athlete of the Week.

In his second year, he helped lead the Knights to their first-ever OCAA Western Region title and a bye to the championships with an outstanding record of 10-2 in league play. They defeated the host Sheridan College Bruins – at the time one of the top six teams in the nation – for the Bronze medal. He continued to lead the Knights in scoring as he doubled his output from the first year with a total of 237 points and an average of 19.8 points-per-game, placing him sixth overall in the OCAA scoring race and third in the Western region. Again, Eliran represented the Knights in the three-point shooting competition and won the co-ed two-ball competitions. He was named to the OCAA Western Region Second Team All-Star and Championship All-Star teams.

In his final year with the Knights, Eliran continued to lead the Knights in scoring with 183 points and an average of 15.3 points-per-game. He earned his second Western Region First Team All Star designation and was named OCAA Athlete of the Week.

With all his success on the court, Eliran never lost sight of his dedication to academics and he was a two-time recipient of the OCAA All Academic and the CCAA Academic All Canadian awards in 2001-2002 and 2002–2003. In his final year Eliran was the recipient of the Niagara College Athlete of Distinction Award and he received the greatest athletic honour that the College bestows: the Male Athlete of the Year award. His most memorable moment was winning the OCAA Western Region Championship, first for Niagara’s Men’s Basketball program. He notes, “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.” Eliran is a graduate of the Electronic Engineering Technology program.
