Lou DiMattio

During her 34-year career at Niagara College, Lou DiMattio has touched the lives of the thousands of people who have been connected with Niagara College athletics – athletes, staff, and builders. As the assistant to four different Student Services Directors, Lou personally handled all administrative tasks - budget transactions, approvals, reporting, and communications.

Over the years, Lou has capably handled over six million dollars in Athletic funding, including the processes associated with hundreds of coaches’ contracts and varsity athlete scholarship applications. Lou also served as the official liaison to the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (SAC), providing valuable support, orientation, and guidance to elected student leaders, particularly the Vice Presidents of Athletics, ensuring the continuity of support and knowledge by our vital on-campus partners in the delivery of athletic programming at Niagara College. Without SAC’s ongoing trust in the college, operational and special project funding (like a new gym floor) would not have been possible.

Lou’s brand of critical behind-the-scenes support is sometimes taken for granted in large organizations; however at Niagara College, staff like Lou are treasured. A past recipient of the Niagara College Award of Excellence, Lou was also inducted into the SAC Hall of Fame.

One of Lou’s fondest memories of athletics at Niagara College occurred during the early 1980's when she played on the college team in a fundraising game against the California Cuties – a testament to her sense of dedication and commitment to go above and beyond the call of duty, and a true team player.
