Randy Conlon 

Randy Conlon, of St. Catharines Ontario, started his athletic career at Niagara College as a member of the men’s basketball team in 1986-87. After the cancellation of the basketball program, Randy became the beat reporter for the Niagara News covering Men’s Volleyball. Shortly after graduating, he joined the College as a staff member in the Marketing department.

In 1993-94, he started coaching the College’s Men's Touch Football Team, which became the top Touch Football program in Ontario. In his first three years with the team, Niagara captured three consecutive OCAA Championships. Two bronze medals followed before the Knights returned to the top of the OCAA with their fourth gold medal in six years. He led the team to three more OCAA bronze medals before bringing two more OCAA titles back to Niagara in 2004 and 2005. In his final season – the final year of touch football in the OCAA – Niagara brought home yet another bronze medal – Randy’s twelfth medal in 13 years as the touch football coach at Niagara College. In total, he led the Touch Football program to six OCAA gold and six OCAA bronze medals.

Randy was also instrumental in the rebirth of the Niagara College Knights Men’s Basketball team when he took over as head coach in 1994-95. In his three-plus seasons as head coach, Randy helped turn the former Division II program into a perennial contender when the OCAA restructured the basketball league from two divisions into one.

In 2000, he returned to the program as an assistant coach, working under his mentor and fellow Hall of Fame inductee Ralph Nero. He was part of the coaching staff that helped bring the Men’s Basketball program its first two medals – a bronze in 2003, and a bronze in 2009. As an athlete, a staff member and a coach, Randy has touched the lives of hundreds of student athletes over the past 20 years.
