Men's Basketball Winning Streak Stopped at Five

The Niagara College Men's Basketball program had their five game winning streak snapped on Saturday after a hard fought 94-90 loss to the CCAA #3 ranked Sheridan Bruins.

The high-scoring affair saw the two teams trade leads throughout the contest. The Bruins however outscored the Knights 31-17 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

The Knights were led offensively by a season best performance by six-foot-four forward Marako Lundy. The Nassau, Bahamas native recorded 26 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. The performance earned Lundy Niagara College Athlete of the week honours.

Also having strong games for the Knights were second-year guard Alex Campbell and third-year Guard Jimmy Bilenga. Both players finished the contest with 19 points.

The loss drops the Knights into a three-way tie for fourth place in the OCAA West Division. Niagara, Algoma, and Humber currently all sport identical 11-6 records.

With just two games remaining for the Knights, the team will look to rebound against the 12-4 Fanshawe Falcons on Monday night at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
