Nathan Groenveld, head coach of the Niagara College men's volleyball program, has been named the new head coach of the York University Lions men's volleyball team.
"Today is a bitter sweet day for me as a coach" said Groenveld. "The last eight seasons have been outstanding. My time with this program and the terrific student-athletes that I have had the privilege to work with, have been a truly outstanding experience. But I am excited to accept this new challenge with the York Lions."
Groenveld has served as the Knights head coach since the 2010-11 season. During his time at the helm, he guided the team to a record of 84-60, six consecutive play off appearances, an OCAA championship, and a CCAA bronze medal.
During Groenveld's tenure, the Knights also saw eight players named CCAA Academic All-Canadians, and three players named CCAA All-Canadians.
The entire Niagara College Knights family wishes Coach Groenveld the best of luck during this exciting new opportunity.
