The Niagara Knights women's volleyball program split their matchups with the Humber Hawks and the Redeemer Royals this past weekend. In their first match against the OCAA West's third place Humber Hawks, the Knights got swept in three straight sets (21-25, 16-25, 23-25).

Trying to bounce back and finish off their regular season on a high note with a victory, the Knights travelled to Redeemer on Saturday. Redeemer came flying out of the gate, earning a victory in each of the first two sets (20-25, 20-25) and putting the Knights backs against the wall.

The third set was a different story, however, as each team traded points beyond the regular 25 point win marker. The Knights were able to stay alive with a 28-26 win and would use that momentum to make an improbable comeback. Niagara would take down their opponents 25-21 in the fourth set to force a deciding fifth set which they won 15-10 to earn a 3-2 match victory.

Leading the way for the Knights against Humber was Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton) and Natasha Desjardins (Welland) who each had eight points on seven kills and a service ace. Tamara Edwards (Vineland) also had eight points, notching five kills and three blocks.

Zeniah Pinnock (Toronto) was unstoppable in the win as she picked up 20 kills and a block. Koslowski matched her teammates 21 points with 15 kills and six service aces to become the Knights all-time leader in service aces with 122. The previous record was held by Kerissa Van Amersfoort who had 118 between 2007 and 2010.

Now that the Knights regular season has officially ended, their OCAA crossover game has been finalized. After finishing 10-8 and fifth in the OCAA West, the Knights will travel to Ottawa to play the Algonquin Thunder (14-4, 3rd OCAA East) on Saturday, February 16th at 1pm. The winner of the match will head to Cambrian College to take part in the OCAA provincial championships the following weekend.
