December 21, 2021...TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and its 26 member schools announced today that it will delay the start of its 2022 varsity winter season until at least Friday, Jan. 21, subject to be reevaluated as per the trajectory of the pandemic.
This decision was made based on a number of factors including the higher transmission rate of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 and in response to the request from Ontario Public Health to reduce interactions and impose additional measures.
Sports affected by this decision include badminton, basketball, curling, indoor soccer and volleyball.
The OCAA will continue to monitor the situation with the health and safety of everyone involved being prioritized as it continues to work towards the provision of valuable sport experiences.
