Knights Golf Gears Up to Host OCAA Invitational

September 23, 2022...WELLAND -The Niagara Knights golf team's season got underway last week when they travelled to Windsor for St. Clair College's Invitational tournament on September 16th at the Roseland Golf and Curling Club. 

Temperatures rose into the mid 30's and team got off to a solid start. The team was lead by the three rookies; Johnny Romak (81), Anthony Sartor (83) and Owen Tope (86). Second-year athletes Tegan De Lellis (90) and Reid Persuini (92) rounded out the team scoring. The team ended up with a team total of 340 ultimately finishing 10th.

The team then travelled to Barrie for the Georgian College Invitational for their second OCAA event of the season on September 22.  The team teed off in single digit temperatures and a strong north breeze was present. The boys got off to a bit of a slow start playing the difficult back nine but  rallied on their final nine to post a respectable team total of 347 placing them 10th overall.  The team was lead once again by Johnny (83) Anthony(85) with Reid (89), Owen (90) and Tegan (95) rounding out of teams performance.

Niagara is set to host their own OCAA invitational on Monday, September 26 at Legends on the Niagara. Monday's invitational will pose as a backdrop for what's to come with the Knights playing host to the 2022 OCAA Golf Championships October 2-5th at Legends.
