Williams and Grandison Receive OCAA Awards for 2021-2022 Season

March 15, 2022 - Two Niagara Knights men's basketball athletes were recognized with Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) awards this afternoon. The announcement comes on the eve of the 2022 OCAA Final Four Men's Basketball Championship set to tip-off tomorrow at Humber College.

First-year guard Reggie Williams earned a spot on the OCAA West Division All-Rookie team after a stellar rookie season for the blue and white. Williams was a highly sought after recruit in 2020 and is a product of Richview Collegiate and Vaughn Prep. With the COVID-10 pandemic effectively snuffing out the 2020-2021 season for the OCAA, Williams first time on the court for the Knights began this season. In just nine games, Williams averaged 15.7 PPG and had an impressive 31-37 FT stat. Williams is currently enrolled in the Broadcast, Radio, Television and Film program at Niagara.

Bahamas native and third-year forward Delroy Grandison was named to the OCAA West Division First Team All-Stars. Grandison returned to the Knights after playing for the Knights back in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. In his first year as a Knight, Grandison took home a pile of awards from the OCAA, including OCAA West Division Rookie of the Year. The Knights named Grandison the Knights Rookie of the Year at their year-end awards banquet.

Grandison returned to the Knights this season, putting up impressive numbers not only for the Knights but on the OCAA leader board. Grandison finished the season second in the OCAA in rebounds per game with 12.7. Grandison was named Athlete of the Week back in February for the week of February 18 that saw him record two double-double performances against Mohawk and Fanshawe. Grandison is enrolled in Electrical Techniques.

Williams, Grandison and the rest of the Knights 2021-2022 squad finished 5-4 this season and earned a berth to the OCAA playoff qualifying game at Redeemer. The Royals third quarter comeback ended the Knights playoff run prematurely with a 65-62 win to advance to the quarterfinal round.
