Preview: Knights Welcome Falcons to the Castle for Afternoon Tip-Off

Story by Niagara College Communication Students Evan Tolton and James Goldberg

Saturday afternoon the Niagara College men's basketball team welcomes the Fanshawe Falcons to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. The 2-2 Knights hope to build off their momentum following an 89-64 win over Lambton last Sunday.

The team has been competitive in all their games. Their two losses to St. Clair and Sheridan were by slim margins, (92-88) and (88-84).

The Knights scored 80 or more points in each of their four games. Their high-powered offence is led by forward Delroy Grandison. The fourth-year Mechanical Techniques major is averaging 18 points a game. He also leads the OCAA in rebounding.

Grandison and his teammates should be a tough matchup for the 1-3 Falcons who have lost three in a row following their season-opening win against Conestoga.

Slow starts have plagued the Falcons in the three defeats. In each of the losses Fanshawe has trailed in the first quarter and at the half. They will look to forward Ali Traore to help end the losing streak. The 6'5 Toronto native leads the team in scoring averaging 18 points a game.

Tip-off is scheduled for 3 pm following the completion of the women's game.

Saturday's game can be streamed on OCAA Live.
