Niagara College Knights Men's Soccer Team Tame The Lambton Lions

Needing a pair of wins heading into the final three games of their season, the Knights looked to start by beating Lambton College Lions and came away with a 3-1 victory.

The first half saw Niagara control most of the play and had several chances that fell to the wayside. It wasn't until the final seconds of the first half when Samuel Escobar of St. Catharines scored from a cross by Mike Vitaterna of Niagara Falls.

The second half saw Lambton capitalize on a counterattack in the 60th minute to equalize the score at 1-1.  Ten minutes later, rookie Nick Hudson of Cambridge headed home a cross on a set play.  That was followed up by an insurance marker in the 80th minute by Andrew Trischuk of Dunnville.

"Despite the victory, we still have some tough matches ahead that we have to focus on," said Head Coach Anthony Ventresca.

With the win, the Knights improved their record to 2-3-1 in the OCAA West Region.

The Knights are back in action on Sunday, October 16th when they host the St. Clair College Saints at the Welland Soccer Club. Game time is 4:00pm.
