The Niagara College women's soccer program dropped to 1-2 on the season after being defeated by the Conestoga Condors 3-0 on Thursday afternoon. The Condors scored in the opening minute of the contest, and despite offensive pressure throughout the match the Knights could not break the Conestoga shutout.
Niagara College women's soccer head coach Frank DeChellis commented "I was frustrated for the girls during the game. They deserved better as we had more shots than in our previous two games combined."
Conestoga received a pair of goals from Nazil Sokmez in the 54th and 69th minute, while Alicia Lodder recorded to opening minute tally for the Condors. The win moves Conestoga into first place in the OCAA West Division.
The Knights received a strong effort from second-year forward Kelly Caslin. The fitness and health promotion student commented "The team played well, ran for 90 minutes, and were aggressive." The St. Catharines native continued "if we stay positive and build on each effort, our time will come."
The Knights will have little time to dwell on the defeat, as the team will face the St. Clair College Saints on Sunday, September 22nd at Youngs Sportsplex. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm and admission to all Niagara College soccer matches is free.
