October 28, 2022…OSHAWA – Niagara College Knights women's soccer player Sydney Sica has once again been named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Year.

Sica received the award at this morning's award banquet brunch at the 2022 OCAA Women's Soccer Championship.

The 5th year Niagara Falls native captures the title for a second consecutive season with the blue and white, along with being the OCAA West Division scoring champion, with 12 goals in 10 games and adding another six this far through the post season. Sica also captured Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian status and was named a West Division First-Team All-Star.

Sica's 12 goals have led her to rewrite the Knight's women's soccer record books this season, where she now holds the record for most goals scored in a single season (previous record of 9 in 2015), and most career goals as a Knight with 21 (previous record of 16 in 2021).

First-year Fenwick native Tori Hultink was named OCAA West Rookie of the Year for 2022-2023 where she recorded five assists and two goals in the regular season. Hultink was also named an OCAA West Division Second Team All-Star with teammate Alyssa Arcand.

Last year's South Division Rookie of the Year, McKenna Jackson and second-year forward, Rylan Greatrix, were also named OCAA West Division First Team All-Stars.

Sica and Hultink combined for five goals as Niagara punched their ticket to the OCAA semi-finals yesterday with a 5-0 win over the Algonquin Wolves. For the first time in the program's history, the Knights will be playing in a semi-final game at the tournament and will continue to try and make history when they kick-off against the Humber Hawks at 12:00pm Saturday in a must-win to get to the gold medal final Sunday afternoon.
