Shawn Barbisan

As one of the top middles in the OCAA, Shawn helped the Niagara Knights develop into one of the best men's volleyball programs in the country. From 1998-2002 the team sported a record of 64 wins and 17 losses, captured three consecutive OCAA West titles, two OCAA gold medals, and OCAA silver medal, and earned three trips to the CCAA National Championship. Known as one of the most dominant blockers in the game, Shawn used his towering six-foot-eight frame to set an OCAA record for blocks in a match (13). In his final year he led the province in blocks with 135. His individual accolades include: men's volleyball MVP (2001-02), Knights Athlete of Distinction Award (2000-01), Niagara College Knights Award of Excellent (2001-02), and an OCAA All-Star selection (2001-02). Shawn was also bestowed with the Niagara College Male Athlete of the Year Award in 2001-02. He went on to compete professional in Italy for nine years. He is a graduate of the of the Niagara College General Arts and Science Program.
