Men's Volleyball #9 in the CCAA

For the second consecutive week the Niagara College Men's Volleyball Program (8-3) has received national recognition for their outstanding play. The CCAA rankings released Tuesday afternoon listed the Knights as the #9 ranked team in the nation.

Just one week after entering the national rankings for the first time since 2004, the Men's Program has climbed from #14 to their current #9 ranking.

This past week saw the Knights earn a dominant three-set victory on Wednesday night over the Conestoga Condors, before hosting the Sheridan Bruins on Friday.

Heading into the match against Sheridan, the two programs were tied in the OCAA West Division standings.

The Knights played some of their best volleyball of the season earning an impressive four-set victory. The victory moved Niagara into sole possession of second place in the OCAA West Division, just two points behind the first place Redeemer Royals (9-2) and Nipissing Lakers (9-2).

Since November 10th the Men's Volleyball Program has won 13 of 14 games, including a five-win tournament championship at the Niagara College Invitational held January 4-5.

The Knights will look to continue their strong play on Friday, January 18th at 8:00 pm when the team hosts the St. Clair College Saints at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.

This season's success has come at an ideal time for the Knights. Niagara College will host the 2013 Ironwood Wealth Management Group CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship from March 7-9. As the host institution, the Niagara College Men's Volleyball Program will receive an automatic entry in the event.
