Looking to extend their win streak to four games to start the regular season, the Niagara College men's basketball (3-0, 3rd West) program will be hosting the Redeemer Royals (1-0, 4th West) Wednesday night at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
The last time the Knights began the season with four straight wins was in 2008, finishing 14-4 overall and capturing the OCAA bronze medal.
So far this season, the Royals have only played one game and beat the Fanshawe Falcons (0-2, 8th West) 83-77. Rayvon Higdon led the way for Redeemer, scoring 24 points and dishing out 10 assists.
Averaging 92.3 points-per-game, the Knights are now the third ranked program in the OCAA. Niagara is coming off an 80-69 win in their home opener against the St. Clair Saints (1-3, 7th West) and were led by freshman standout Jordon McDonald's (Mississauga) second double-double of the year.
Last time these two programs met, Niagara squeezed by with an 85-80 win. Marako Lundy (Nassau) finished with a game-high 21 points, while point guard Lequan Hylton (Mississauga) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 assists. All-time the Knights are 35-3 against the Royals, 18-1 on home court.
Tip-off for Wednesday's matchup is set for 8:00pm and tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00, while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free. For those unable to be in attendance, all Knights home games are live streamed through www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
