KNIGHTS FALL TO DEFENDING CCAA CHAMP HUMBER IN SEASON OPENER

WELLAND, Ont., (September 6, 2019) – It wasn't the results they were looking for in their season opener, but head coach Frank DeChellis made it clear there was progress made tonight in his team's 6-0 loss to the defending Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) champion Humber Hawks.

"Moments when we embraced attacking and defending principles as a team, along with keeping the game simple, were when we were playing well," said DeChellis after the game.

" The moments we showed some impatience or panic, they punished us. The score hurts, but the guys got to see the level they need to move towards in order to compete in the league."

Humber entered this season as the 2018 CCAA champion after capturing their third Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association (OCAA) in four years. Second- year standout Allen Leaford (Brampton) led the way for Humber, netting five of the Hawk's six goals in the contest.

Despite tonight's thumping on the scoreboard, DeChellis and his squad will take the experience and put it towards practice next week in preparation for Mohawk College next Friday.

"These are college students, and tonight was applied learning at it's best. I look forward to our training next week."

The Knights will face-off against Mohawk College in another Friday night home game at Youngs Sportsplex September 13th.
