Knights Women’s Basketball able to come home with a victory

The Niagara College Women's Basketball Team went on the road to go up against the Redeemer Royals at the Redeemer Athletics Centre Gymnasium in Ancaster Wednesday evening.

The Knights and the Royals were battling back and forth in the first quarter, but the Knights stayed strong and never let up taking the first quarter leading 23-22. In the second quarter the Knights were still fighting, and the Royals were not showing signs of backing down. The Knights were able to outscore the royals this 15-10 ending the second half with the score 38-32.

Coming out of half-time The Royals showed that they still have fight in them, and outscored the Knights 19-13 which tied the game 51-51 to end the third. In the fourth quarter was when the Knights started to put their foot on the gas and really come together to work as a team. The Knights slowly chipped away at the scoreboard earning their 72-65 victory mostly in the last two minutes of the game. The Knights were led by Taryn Mitchell with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal as well as Janee Harrison with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, and 1 block.

The Knights are looking to extend their winning streak to three games on Saturday January 20th, when the host the Humber Hawks at home in a key matchup. We hope to see you at 1pm at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre!
