The Knights men's basketball team extended their winning streak to three in a row Friday night, when they defeated the visiting St. Clair Saints 83-66.
St. Clair came into the game as the #1 seed in the OCAA Western conference, but that didn't seem to phase the Knights as they came out strong in the opening quarter, outscoring the Saints 28-20 heading into the second. The Knights continued to produce on the offensive end, pouring in another 20 points in the second quarter to go into the half, leading the Saints 48-37.
The third quarter was highly contested, but the Knights remained composed and managed to contain the Saints offense to win the quarter 21-20 leading the Saints 69-57 heading into the final quarter.
The Knights showed some tenacity and grit on the defensive end in the fourth quarter, clamping up the Saints and limiting them to only 9 points, holding onto the lead to win the game 83-66. This latest win brings the Knights record to 6-4 for the season and tied for third place in the OCAA West Division.
Leading the way for the Knights were guards Khayden Stewart and Reggie Williams with 9 points and 4 assists each, and off the bench, Mark Taylor and Riley Bleich contributed with 13 points each.
Next up for the Knights they host the visiting 4-6 Conestoga Condors on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Niagara College Simplii Financial Athletic Centre in Welland. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
