LONDON, ONT: The Niagara College men's soccer team (0-2) took to the road Sunday, in hopes of changing their fortune against the Fanshawe Falcons (1-0). Unfortunately, the Knights could not muster up enough of a fight as they lost 5-0.
The Knights were pushed back right off the hop, going down a goal in the 5th minute of the game and 3 goals by halftime. They took a collective breath and came out of the half fighting hard to get back into the match – sadly, the Falcons withstood the attack and scored 2 more goals in the second half.
"We knew we had our toughest 2 games at the start of the season and we got them out of the way" Frank DeChellis, head coach of the Knights indicated. "We were slow to move the ball and it cost us all over the pitch – Fanshawe is a strong team and this year proved no different. The score is difficult for us to accept, but the guys need to learn that you have to fight against a 5-0 loss when the game is 0-0."
The Knights' get a week off to recover before playing back-to-back games on Saturday, September 15th and Sunday, September 16th, as the Lambton Lions and St. Clair Saints stroll into Youngs Sportsplex. Hope to see all you Knights fans there!
