The Niagara College women's basketball team won their 2nd consecutive game on Thursday, November 15th, easily defeating the Redeemer Royals 77-52.
Knights' Assistant Coach Don Larman felt that his team "needed to execute, and we did. We executed extremely well, especially in the 2nd half." The second half saw the Knights play some of their strongest basketball of the season.
With just a 7 point lead at halftime, the Knights outscored the Royals 40-22 over the final 2 quarters. Larman felt that in the second half the difference was the Knights' "rebounding, and solid flow on offense."
The 2-2 Knights' rebounding and offensive efforts were led by 2nd year center Kaitlyn McPherson. McPherson finished the game with an impressive 19 points and 13 rebounds. Larman added that McPherson "was huge for us. She's playing really well right now."
The key to the Knights recent success has been "keeping focused, playing as a team, and doing the little things right" feels Larman.
Also recording strong games for Niagara were forwards Miranda Ross, who finished the game with 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Shelby Johnston who added 13 points.
The Knights next game is scheduled for Sunday, November 18th at 1:00pm as the team hosts the Lambton Lions at the Welland campus athletic centre. All Knights varsity games feature free admission, and are live broadcasted and archived at www.sportslive.ca
