January 30, 2023...WELLAND - The Niagara Knights women's volleyball team easily handled the Fanshawe Falcons in a 3-0 sweep on Wednesday at the Falcon's nest. Set scores were 25-16,25-18 and 25-16 in favour of the Knights, who also win the season series 6-0.
The Knights were led by veteran setter Montanna Taylor with 14 points (5 kills, 5 service aces and 4 solo blocks). Taylor also picked up 27 assists. Natasha Desjardins picked up 11 point with 11 kills. Desjardins will round out her career in a Knights jersey this season, with her final home games coming this week on Wednesday against Humber (14-0) and Saturday against Mohawk (8-7). A special senior's day presentation will take place prior to game time to honour Desjardins and her five seasons spent with the Knights.
Niagara will enjoy their two games at hand at home this week, before rounding out the regular season on the road up in Sudbury.
The Knights currently sit with a 9-5 record in the OCAA West standings which has them in fourth place overall.
OCAA playoffs begin February 18th with cross-over qualifier games taking place before the top eight OCAA teams from both divisions decent on Sheridan College February 22-25th in Oakville.
