Female - Jordan Koslowski, Women's Volleyball
Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton) of the women's volleyball program has been named the Niagara College Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Over her past three matches, the fourth year outside hitter has become the Knights all-time leader in both points and kills. On November 3rd, against the Mohawk Mountaineers, Koslowski put home her 680 career point, surpassing the previous record set by Tracy Smith from 2001-2005.
She followed up that record by recording her 557th career kill on November 11th against the Boreal Viperes. The former All-Canadian surpassed former Knight Ginni Llord's previous record of 556, which was set from her time with the Knights from 1999-2003.
On top of the record breaking performances, Koslowski also led the Knights to a pair of home victories against the Cambrian Golden Shield and the aforementioned Boreal Viperes. In the two matches she recorded 11 and 16 points in back-to-back days, including 15 kills on Sunday afternoon against the Viperes on the back of a blistering .682 hitting percentage.
Koslowski and the Knights will wrap up their 3-game home stand when they welcome the Redeemer Royals to Welland on Friday, November 16th. The opening serve is set for 6pm.
Male - Elijah Bugiardini, Men's Volleyball
Elijah Bugiardini (Hamilton) of the men's volleyball program has been named the Niagara College Athlete of the Week.
The second year Opposite Hitter was instrumental in the Knights first two victories of the season over the visiting Cambrian Golden Shield and Boreal Viperes. Across two matches Bugiardini tallied 21 points, including 17 kills, 3 services aces and a stuff block.
His three services aces and .600 hitting percentage against Cambrian were both career highs, while his 16 points against the Golden Shield matched a career high. He matches his career high in points set last year in a losing effort against Conestoga.
Bugiardini will look to carry the momentum forward, as the Knights welcome the Redeemer Royals to Welland to close out a 3-game home stand on Friday, November 16th. The opening serve is set for 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's match.
