NEWS: Stys & Bromwell named Niagara College Athletes of the Week

Male - Livingston Bromwell, Men's Basketball

Livingston Bromwell (Nassau, Bahamas) of the men's basketball program has been named the Niagara College Male Athlete of the Week.

Bromwell has gotten his Niagara Knights career off to a hot start. The first-year forward, and Ridley College graduate, recorded his third double figure scoring game of the season in the Knights 105-90 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers on November 3rd. Bromwell contributed a team-high 18 points in a game where five of his teammates also reached double digits. He also chipped in with two assists and seven rebounds in just 19-minutes on the court.

The electrical techniques student also put back seven points and collected three rebounds in the Knights first loss of the season on November 1st against the visiting Humber Hawks.

On top of his on-court performance, Livingston was also a guest on the Niagara Sports Report with Rod Mawhood on November 4th. Bromwell discussed his childhood in the Bahamas, how he ended up at Ridley and Niagara, and his early season success on the court.

Bromwell and his Niagara teammates will return to the court on November 8th when the Knights welcome the UTM Eagles to Welland. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm, immediately following the competion of the women's game. Admission is free for all students, while admission is $5 for all other spectators.

Female - Tia Stys, Women's Basketball

Tia Stys (St. Catharines) of the women's basketball program has been named the Niagara College Female Athlete of the Week.

Despite a pair of losses this past week, Stys had a big night statistically, draining 22 points on the road against the Mohawk Mountaineers. It was a career high for the Holy Cross graduate, surpassing her previous career high of 17 set last season. 

The third year student shot 11 of 23 from the field, and added 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Stys and the Knights will look to get back in the win column on November 8th, when they welcome the UTM Eagles to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm. Admission is free for all students, while admission is $5 for all other spectators.
