NEWS: Koslowski, Hutchinson Jr named Niagara College Athletes of the Week

Male – Van Hutchinson Jr, Men's Basketball

Van Hutchinson Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) of the men's basketball program has been named the Niagara College Male Athlete of the Week.

Coming off a season opening victory at home, Hutchinson Jr led the Knights to victory in their first road game of the season over the Conestoga Condors 91-75 in Kitchener. The third year guard recorded his second staight double-double, draining 25 points and 12 rebounds. He also found himself one assist shy of a triple-double with nine helpers on the night. Hutchinson Jr also got it done on the defensive side of the floor, chipping in three steals and a pair of blocks.

Hutchinson Jr shot a blistering 64.7% from the field, and knocked home his only three point attempt on the night. His 26 points matches the third best point output of his career, surpassed only by games of 30 and 26 points in games last season.

The Knights will return to the court on November 1st, as the host the Humber Hawks in the 4th Annual Blue & White Games. Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm, immediately following the women's game.

Female – Jordan Koslowski, Women's Volleyball

Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton) of the women's volleyball program has been named Niagara College Female Athlete of the Week.

The fourth-year outside hitter led the Knights to a hard fought five set victory over the Conestoga Condors on October 25th in Kitchener. Koslowski accounted for 35% of the Knights offence, recording 27 points. Her .426 kill percentage led her to the second highest single match point total of her career, just 2 points shy of her career high 29 points.

Offensively she recorded 22 kills, three blocks, and two service aces. On the defensive side of the floor she also chipped in 12 digs.

Koslowski and the Knights will have some time recover, not hitting the road again until November 3rd when they head to Hamilton to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers, with the opening serve scheduled for 1pm. They will return home to Welland on November 10th and 11th for a pair of matches against the visiting Cambrian Golden Shield and Boreal Viperes.
