Knights Weekend Preview

Women’s Volleyball

Niagara Knights (1-0, 3rd West) vs. Mohawk Mountaineers (1-1, 6th West)

Friday, October 31st, 2014 at 6:00pm

After starting the season with a win on the road, the Knights now look to win their 2014-15 home opener.  The reigning Female Athlete of the Week Lucy McLay (Stratford) led the Knights to a 3-1 win over St. Clair.

When these two programs played in Welland last season, the Knights came away with a 3-2 win behind the 17 point effort of Maddison Morgan (Whitby).

The Mountaineers are coming off a 3-0 win on the road against the Fanshawe Falcons (1-1, 5thWest).

Player Watch:

Bailey Davis (#14 Niagara): A vital part of every Knights attack, Davis had 38 assists in the 3-1 win over St. Clair.  Look for the freshman setter to once again put the Knights in a position to win.

Kristen Bialachowski (#13 Mohawk): The second year left side player led the Mountaineers to a 3-0 win over Fanshawe behind her team lead 11 points.

Men’s Volleyball

Niagara Knights (0-1, 8th West) vs. Mohawk Mountaineers (2-0, 2nd West)

Friday, October 31st, 2014 at 8:00pm

The Knights will have their hands full Friday night as they host the defending provincial champions.  Mohawk has all but one player returning from last year’s squad.

These two programs split the season series last year 1-1, with the Knights picking up a 3-1 win at Mohawk.  Third year outside hitter Jeff Scott (Georgetown) had 14 points.

The Knights are coming off a loss from St. Clair (1-1, 7th West) and will be looking to get in the win column in front of their home fans.

Player Watch:

Cole Jordan (#12 Niagara): The freshman from London is an explosive outside hitter.  Jordan is a potential game changer anytime he is on the court.

Charlie Hancock (#11 Mohawk): In a 3-2 win over Fanshawe, Hancock led the Mountaineers with 17 kills.

Women’s Basketball

Niagara Knights (1-1, 4th West) vs. St. Clair Saints (1-0, 3rd West)

Sunday, November 2nd, 2014 at 1:00pm

Coming off a ten point win against Lambton, the Knights are hosting a tough St. Clair team.  The Saints will be arriving after playing the day before, which should be advantageous for the Knights.

These two programs faced off earlier this year in the Durham Invitational and St. Clair won 57-35.

The Saints are coming off an impressive 71-49 win over the Lambton Lions (0-3, 10th West).

Player watch:

Mary Ingribelli (#8 Niagara): Look for Mary to continue her hot shooting in this game.  The former Athlete of the Week scored 13 points in only 14 minutes of play last game against Lambton.

Meighen Boyd (#11 St. Clair): The second year guard from Tecumseh is coming off a 18 point 11 rebound game against Lambton.
