Knights See Season Come to an End in OCAA Quarterfinal Loss

March 3, 2023...WINDSOR, ONT. - The Niagara College Men's Basketball Team (12-7, 4TH West) faced off against the George Brown Huskies (18-1, 1st East) in their quarter-final OCAA Championship match up Friday afternoon, falling 74-61 .

The Knights came into this match up as the lower seed but showed quickly that they were there to compete, holding the top seeded Huskies to only 14 points in the first quarter and taking a seven point lead 21-14 in the second quarter. The Huskies fought back in a high-scoring

second quarter, gaining some ground on the Knights, yet Niagara still lead 39-35 going into the half-time break.

The Huskies came out of the break looking a like a new team, smothering the Knights on the defensive end holding Niagara to only 13 points in the quarter and taking the lead back from the knights 55-52 going into the final quarter of the game.  Once the Huskies took the lead they didn't look back and continued to push past the Knights winning the game by 13, 74-61.

The Knights were led by Delroy Grandison who led the team in points and rebounds with 16 and 10 respectivly. Reggie Williams also contributed 13 points.

With the loss, Niagara sees their season come to an end while George Brown will move on to the semi-final round tomorrow to face the Mohawk Mountaineers.
