Knights Men's Golf Team Tied For Fifth Place At Provincials

After Day 1 of the 2011 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships, the Niagara College Knights Men's Golf team sit tied for 5th place with the St. Clair College Saints, after the Knights recorded a combined score of 314. The five-time defending OCAA Champions, the Humber College Hawks are in first place with an 18 shot lead, after an impressive combined score of 283.

In the individual standings, the Knights were led by 2010 OCAA Bronze Medalist Ryan Curran (Thornton, ON), who recorded a score of 76 (+4). Curran sits tied for 15th in the field of 86 golfers.

2009 CCAA Champion Chris Hargest (Owen Sound, ON) shot an opening round score of 77 (+5) and sits tied for 22nd place. Davey Evans and Cole Kent shot rounds of 79 (+7) and 82 (+10) to round out the top four scores for the Knights. Chad Currie (Owen Sound), who finished fourth at the 2010 CCAA Championships, struggled with an opening round of 85 (+13).

The Knights Men's Golf team will take to the course Tuesday morning for Day 2 of the three-day Championship at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club in Cornwall, Ontario.
