Saturday, February 17th saw the Niagara Knights men's basketball program close out their regular season with a 107-77 home victory over the Sault Cougars (0-20, 11th OCAA West). Saturday's win improves the Knights to 13-7 on the season, keeping the program at 4th spot in the OCAA West Division.
The Knights made their presence known under the rim, out-rebounding the visiting Cougars 44-19. The Knights offense was also impressive in their regular season finale, with five players finishing in double digit scoring.
Leading the offense for the Knights was their veteran guard Levi Mukuna (Hamilton, Ont.) who finished with a game high 23 points, while contributing 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Other notable Knights' performances came from Kevin Cooper (Nassau, Bahamas), Johnnie Richardson (Niagara Falls, Ont.), Deysean Thompson (Orangeville, Ont.) and Jordan McDonald (Missisauga, Ont.) who all had points in the double digits Saturday afternoon.
The Knights now automatically quality for the upcoming OCAA Championships as they are the hosts. The event will commence from March 1st to March 3rd located at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
