The Niagara Knights men's basketball program improved to 4-0 on the season after defeating the St. Clair Saints (0-3, 10th OCAA West) 93-78. With the victory Sunday afternoon, the Knights now hold possession of 2nd in the OCAA west division, only trailing Humber (5-0, 1st OCAA West) who has a game in hand.
The Knights started the game well and had a couple of good runs in the first half, but got in foul trouble and St. Clair capitalized in the half with us up only 39–36. Veteran guard Levi Mukanu (Hamilton, Ont.) led the Knights in the first half with 15 of his game high 27 points.This week's Knights' athlete of the week played all 40 miutes and finished the game with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists, good enough for his second double-double in as many games.
Other than the Knights giving up too many open three point looks, the program had a good second half winning both quarters finishing the game 93–78.
The Knights had impressive offensive contributions from many of their players, finishing the game with 5 Knights over 10+ points. 2nd year forward Jordan McDonald (Mississauga, Ont.) had another outstanding performance for the Knights, finishing the game with 17 of his 19 points in the game in the second half. 3rd year guard Van Hutchinson Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) was a rebound machine finishing the game with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
The Knights will look to increase their undefeated streak to five when they host the Lambton Lions (1-2, 6th OCAA West) Thursday, November 9th at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
