RECAP: Knights conquer Lions, fall to Saints in weekend split

The Niagara Knights women's basketball program (5-2, 2nd OCAA West) earned a weekend split on a weekend road trip to the Western end of the province. The Knights defeated the Lambton Lions (2-4, 7th OCAA West) 89-51 on November 18th before falling 81-62 to the St Clair Saints (6-1, 1st OCAA West) the following afternoon.

On Friday night in Sarnia, the Knights  had six players reach double digits en route to victory. Emily Naccaratio (St. Catharines), Alyssa McCabe (Niagara Falls), and Courtney McPherson (Welland) each had 12 points, with McPherson reading a double double with 10 rebounds. Xuan Nguyen-Marshall (Scarborough) had 11 points, while Brooke-Lyn Murdoch (Welland) and Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines) added 10 apiece.

The following afternoon the Knights dropped an 81-62 decision in Windsor against the first place Saints. Courtney McPherson and Mary Ingribelli were the only two Knights to reach double digits, with 16 and 10 apiece. Ingribelli has teams highs in both rebounds with six, and assists with four in the losing cause.

Niagara will get back on the court on Friday, November 25th when they travel to Ancaster to take on the Redeemer Royals. They will return home on November 30th for their final game of the first semester when the Fanshawe Falcons visit the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
