PREVIEW: Women's Basketball ready to tackle top-ranked Hawks

Wednesday, January 25th will see the Niagara Knights women's basketball program (7-4) travel to Toronto to take on the CCAA's top-ranked Humber Hawks (11-0).  Tip-off is set for 6:00pm at the Humber Athletic Centre.

The Knights will look to continue their winning ways, as the team is coming off an impressive 77-53 victory over the Redeemer Royals on January 18th. Their opponent Wednesday, a formidable Hawks side that is the reigning CCAA national champion and is perfect so far in 2016-17.

The Hawks are driven by superstar point guard Ceejay Nofuente. The fifth-year veteran was named CCAA player of the year in 2015-16, and has been equally dominant this season, including an OCAA record 55 point performance on January 11th.

The Knights will counter with an OCAA leading offense that is averaging 79.2 points-per-game. Veterans Courtney McPherson (Welland), Brooke-Lyn Murdoch (Welland), Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines) , Alyssa McCabe (Niagara Falls) are all averaging better than 10 points-per-game in 2016-17. The Knights also lead the OCAA in field goal and three point shooting percentages.

The two teams last met on November 3rd in a matchup that saw the Hawks earn a 75-57 victory. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm, and the game will be live broadcasted at https://www.youtube.com/user/hawksrock121/live
