NEWS: Smith and Cressman named Athletes of the Week

David Cressman of the Niagara Knights men’s curling program has been named Niagara's male athlete of the week.

The second year lead from Cobourg, Ontario earns the award after helping his program earn an 8-6 bronze medal victory over the Humber Hawks at this past weekend’s OCAA Championships in Sue Ste. Marie, Ontario. In addition to the bronze medal, Cressman was named an OCAA Championship first-team all-star.

Cressman and the rest of the men’s curling program will set their sights on the nationals as their third place finish earns a berth in the 2018 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship being hosted by the University of Alberta-Augustana in Ludec, Alberta. The event is being held from March 24-28 at the Leduc Recreation Centre.

Female- Courtney Smith

Courtney Smith of the Niagara Knights women’s curling program has been named Niagara’s female athlete of the week.

The Protection, Security, & Investigations-Customs major from St. Catharines, Ont. earns the award after helping her program win a gold medal at this past weekend’s OCAA Championships in Sue Ste. Marie, Ontario. The former Brock Badger is currently in her fifth and final year of eligibility, closing out her OCAA career a gold medal champion.

Smith and the rest of the Knights set their sites on the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship hosted by the University of Alberta-Augustana in Leduc, Alberta at the Leduc Recreation Centre. The event is being held from March 24-28.
