NEWS: Ingribelli and Marshall named Athletes of the Week

Female Athlete of the Week- Mary Ingribelli

Mary Ingribelli of the Niagara College women’s basketball program has been named this week’s female athlete of the week. The St. Catharines, Ontario native receives this award after posting a career best 28 point performance in the Knights 82-74 win over the Sheridan Bruins (4-5, 6th OCAA West)

The Knights 4th year guard is having a career year for the Knights, averaging 18.3 points through the team’s first eights games. The fourth year former Governor Simcoe standout is also giving the Knights 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

“Mary she was absolutely clutch for us in such a close game” said Niagara Knights women’s basketball head coach Mike Beccaria. “She is playing the best basketball of her career and will continue to play a major role in our offence if we hope to battle for a medal in the OCAA.”

Ingribelli and the rest of the women’s basketball program will return to action on Friday, December 8th when they host the undefeated Humber Hawks (10-0, 1st OCAA West) at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.

Male Athlete of the Week- Tyler Marshall

Tyler Marshall of the Niagara College curling program has been named this week's male athlete of the week. The first year Community and Justice Services student was the Knights’ best player at the Seneca Bonspiel, leading his team to a perfect 3-0 record.

Knights’ head coach Jordan Thin has been very impressed with the program’s first year men’s vice from McDougall, Ontario. “Tyler has been a reliable contributor and a steady force for us this season” said coach Thin. “I hope to see him continue to develop as a player and help us contend in the OCAA for years to come.”

Marshall and the Knights will be back in action in 2018 when they host the Niagara Bonspiel Friday January 26th at the Welland curling club.
