NEWS: Michelle Maecker becomes Knights all-time leading scorer

With her 11th career goal as a member of the Niagara Knights women's soccer program, Michelle Maecker (Fonthill) has become the program's all-time leading scorer. Maecker has surpassed former Knight Jackie Lawther who scored 10 goals over the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

The record-breaking goal came in the 15th minute in Niagara's afternoon matchup against the Mohawk Mountaineers on September 29th.

Knights head coach Rob Lalama was extremely complimentary with his star striker. "Michelle is a pure goal scorer with a rocket of a shot," said Lalalma. "She is a great teammate who is very committed to school and this team. A tireless with a knack of scoring when she is anywhere near the net. Michelle is an absolute pleasure to coach.

Maecker began her Knights career with a bang, breaking the single season record for goals scored by a rookie with six. She tied Lawther's record back on September 26th against the Lambton Lions after she netted two-goals. With five goals on the season so far, Maecker still has three games remaining this season to add onto her new record.
