Julieanne Buist Takes Home OCAA West Division Rookie of the Year Honours; Five Knights Named to OCAA West All-Star Teams

ANCASTER, ONT (October 24, 2019) – First- year midfielder Julieanne Buist (Canfield, Ont.) has been named the 2019 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Division Rookie of the Year. 

Buist, had an impressive rookie season with the Knights, tallying up seven goals in her first eight OCAA games.

In the Knights home game against University of Toronto-Mississauga on October 2nd, Buist notched four goals in her team's 7-0 win. Her four-goal effort paved her way to set a program record with most goals scored in a single game (Previous record of three).

Buist also managed to tie teammate Michelle Maecker's (3rd year, Fonthill) career record for goals in a single season, after tying Maecker's record October 2nd at seven. Maecker still leads in total career goals with 14. 

A graduate of Smithville Christian High School, Buist is majoring in Office Administration at Niagara.

Along with her Rookie of the Year nod from the OCAA, Buist was also named an OCAA West Region Second Team All Star, along with Katelyn Mix (2nd year, Gilford) and Taylor Major (4th year, Stoney Creek).

Terin Hultink (1st year, Fenwick) and Ceilidh Richardson were named to the OCAA West Region First Team. Hultink also recorded seven goals this season, also tying Maecker and Buists' record for most goals in a single season.
