November 30, 2024
WELLAND, ON: The Niagara Knights Men's Basketball program hosted Fanshawe at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre in Welland, ON for their final matchup of the 2024 season. Saturday, November 30 saw the Knights beat the Fanshawe Falcons 96-75, and improve their season record to 4-6.

"We shot the ball better than any game we have played this year" said Niagara College men's basketball head coach Lequan Hylton. "If we shoot the ball like that it will honestly be really hard for teams to beat us with the defence that we play". Throughout the game the Knights moved the ball well, with a team total of 20 assists compared to Fanshawe's 9 total assists. "Guys are playing for each other, and it shows, we are averaging a lot more assists within our last two, three games" added Hylton.

Exceptional offensive games from Knights' 3rd year Skylar Samuel and 2nd year Kadin Moore who scored 18 and 20 points respectively.  They also added a combined 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

Five Knights players put up more than 10 points and the team averaged 9.6 points on the night.  Honorable mention to 4th year Knight Khayden Stewart with an outstanding 8 assists and 4 steals. This strong performance from the Knights in the last game of 2024 was an excellent way to set the tone for their upcoming games in the next semester.

"We are going to continue the energy we have, we have a very good vibe and energy right now," said Hylton. The team's strong communication and teamwork led the team to a dominant victory over Fanshawe and the team hopes to carry that into the second half of the season.

The Knights Basketball program will be visiting Mohawk College in the new year for an away game on Saturday January 11th, 2025. The game will be played at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre in Hamilton, ON with tipoff scheduled for 3:00pm.
