Knights Men’s Basketball Upset Mohawk Mountaineers

January 11, 2025

HAMILTON, ON: The Niagara College Knights men's basketball team (5-6) travelled to Hamilton on Saturday afternoon for their first game of the 2024-2025 season.  The Knights trailed at the half, but a strong 3rd quarter propelled them to a 77-74 win.

The Knights struggled in the first half of the season, losing some close games and struggling to find their mojo.  They seem to have cracked the code now as they find themselves on a 3-game winning streak after having upset the 8 and 4 Mountaineers.  The Knights played a well-rounded game with 8 different players contributing to the scoreboard.  The Knights also took care of the ball offensively and took advantage of Mohawk's 19 turnovers, scoring a total of 29 points off Mohawks turnovers.

Second year Kadin Moore was Niagara's top contributor tallying 18 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal, shooting 72.7% from the floor and getting some highly contested shots to fall.  Fifth year guard Khayden Stewart also had a strong game playing the most minutes out of all the Knights and adding 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals, and 1 block.  First year forward Isiah Panom out of Medicine Hat, AB, contributed 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals to the scoreboard as well.

The Knights will look to carry this momentum forward as they have a quick turnaround before travelling to Sheridan College for a rematch against the Bruins on Wednesday, January 15.  The Knights will look avenge their previous loss to the Bruins and continue their win streak.
