The Niagara College Knights Men's volleyball program intends to continue their winning ways as they sqaure off against Fanshawe College Friday, November 4th at the Welland Campus Centre at at 8:00pm.
Niagara and Fanshawe are both coming into the game undefeated so far this season. Niagara has won two out of two games this season, previously defeating Humber 3-1 and Conestoga 3-0. It is no surprise the powerhouse Knights are ranked sixth in the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) Men's Volleyball rankings as of November 1st. Fanshawe ranks fourth in those rankings as they are 3-0 going into Friday's heavy-weight tilt.
The Knights have averaged 10.00 kills per set, 7.14 digs per set, and 8.29 assists per set. This is in large part due to the play of third-year, Sports Management major, Carter Thurman. The six-foot-two setter from Balgonie, Saskatchewan, has registered an absurdly impressive 55 assists and a .750 hitting percentage in just two matches this season. He will look to continue his impressive play against a tough opponent in the Falcons.
Niagaras Mens' volleyball program has also witnessed a bright spot in Elijah Bugjardini, a fourth-year outside hitter from Hamilton. The six-foot-four, Computer Programing major caught stride early in the season leading the team with an average of 3.33 kills per set, while also averaging 2.00 digs per set.
This game is set to be a real barn-burner and will be the game to watch in the Ontario Collegiate Athletics Association (OCAA) Men's volleyball this season. There is truly nothing better than witnessing two juggernaut programs collide early on in the season.
For those unable to attend in person, the livestream will start at 8:00pm on OCAA Live, and can be found HERE. For more information regarding The Niagara College Knights, please visit our website goknights.ca.
