November 7, 2022 WELLAND, ON: The Niagara Knights men's volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season against the undefeated Fanshawe Falcons. Friday's home opener saw the Knights drop three straight sets against Fanshawe at the Welland campus. The set scores are as follows, 15-25, 16-25, 22-25.

"I think Fanshawe came out flying," said head coach Steven Stone. Stone gave Fanshawe its flowers stating, "They came out very prepared to take it to us in our home court. We didn't have much of an answer for them tonight."

Despite the losing effort Niagara still had some stellar performances. One of which came from opposite hitter Dallas Melnick. The 6'1 third-year police foundations student led the team in kills with 7 kills.

Colin Prelaz was second on the team in kills with six. The 6'6 third-year student is majoring in business. He has a total of 9 kills on the season and is currently one of the team leaders in kills.

6'2 Carter Thurman was the team's assist leader. The second-year sports management student recorded 18 assists. Carter looks to continue his effective play next game against Sheridan College.

Niagara fought valiantly against one of the top-ranked teams in all of Ontario and the nation, while also heading into the game as one of the top ranked teams themselves.  The Knights will look to bounce back against Sheridan College (2-2) Friday, November 11th at home at 8:00pm
