Knights Pick Up Big 3-2 Win Over St. Clair

Dec 4th 2022 - The Niagara Knights men's volleyball team wrapped up their first half of the OCAA schedule with a 3-2 win over St. Clair and sit at a 6-3 record. Set scores for Niagara were 16-25, 25-23, 12-25, 25-18 and 16-14.

Saturday's afternoon match proved to be an entertaining one, with both teams providing plenty of back and fourth action.

Niagara has found success on the road more than at home so far this season going 1-3 at home and 5-0 on the road.

"That was an ultimate team win," said head coach Steve Stone. "I'm so proud of the boys for never giving up. Those two sets we lost were pretty ugly but that's the beauty of volleyball. Each set you get an opportunity to start fresh and the boys really stepped up. They never quit and enjoyed playing some tough volleyball. Mitch Churipuy had his second start of the season and he really gave us a boost defensively and with his demeanor."

Knights third-year outside hitter Colin Prelaz had an outstanding game for the Knights, leading the way with 23 points from 22 kills, and 10 digs.

"Colin Prelaz played his best ball of the season," said Stone "I'm proud of his energy and attitude but also the way in which he scored. Apparently we love playing on the road."

The Knights will break for the holidays until January, when they host the Conestoga Condors at home January 12th.
