Knights Men’s Basketball Team Lose Third Straight

The Niagara College Knights Men's Basketball team dropped a 98-88 decision to the Sheridan College Bruins on Saturday evening in Brampton.

Just like the Bruins Women's team, the Bruins Men's team were looking to avenge an earlier season loss to the Knights (73-70 loss on November 30 in Welland). The Bruins jumped out to a 29-18 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Sheridan's Khalid Abdel-Gabar (Mississauga, ON) had a game-high 30 points and shot 7-for-11 (64%) from behind the arc. Denmark McDonald (Mississauga, ON) added 25 points for the Bruins.

First-year guard Alex Campbell (Brampton, ON) had a team-high 25 points for the Knights and shot 4-for-7 (57%) from three-point range, and 5-for-5 (100%) from the free throw line.

The Bruins are 10-4 and are tied for 3rd place in the OCAA West Region with the Mohawk College Mountaineers (10-5).

With their third loss in a row, the Knights record drops to 8-5 and puts them in 6th place in the OCAA West.

The Knights will face the Mountaineers on Wednesday, February 8 in a very pivotal match-up. On November 9, the Mountaineers came away with a 87-78 win against the Knights in Hamilton.

The Knights are 4-1 at home this season.

Game time is 8:00pm at the new Athletic Centre, Welland Campus.
