KITCHENER, ON: The Niagara Knight's (5-2-1) strolled into Kitchener for a tilt against the Conestoga Condors (3-4) and walked away with a 3-1 victory Thursday evening, winning the season series against the Condors 2-0.
The Knights were dominant in this match from start to finish. Cienna Toromoreno opened the scoring for the Knights just 8 minutes into the game and they did not look back. Juliana Mack Greco put the Knights up by 2 early in the 2nd half, scoring a beautiful goal that was assisted by Aneisha Gobbels. The Condors tried to fight back, slotting a ball into the back of the net late, but Lily Ryder sealed the game for the Knights in the 88th minute to put them back up 3-1 for the final.
Speaking after the game, Rob Lalama, head coach of the Knights spoke highly of the Condors. "We knew Conestoga was going to be a tough opponent tonight – they're a physical team that battles for every ball." Shifting to the Knights, Lalama stated that "our ladies were ready and we created chances from the opening kickoff, putting two shots off the bar before we scored. In the second half, we sealed the victory with two more goals – definitely a satisfying win."
The Knights, who currently sit in 2nd place in the OCAA West, get a week's worth of rest before their next match at home when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers (4-2-1). Catch the action live and in-person at Youngs Sportsplex at 6pm, where we will be celebrating our student-athletes during Seniors Night.
